We are in the middle of one of the busiest months at Stuyvesant! Many of us are experiencing "SING! withdrawal" after a great demonstration of school spirit at each grade's awe-inspiring shows last week. Meanwhile, Big Sibs have started planning Stuyvesant's Open House for the newly admitted students, and their parents, which will take place on Monday, March 21st. What better way to prepare for such an event than by announcing our NEW BIG SIB CHAIRS FOR 2016-2017?
They're all very committed to the Stuy community and have been exemplary Big Sibs, so our organization will be in great hands for the upcoming year! Without further ado, here are the introductions from each of our New Chairs:
Hi, I'm Chloé! In addition to being a Big Sib, I'm a varsity volleyball player, a photographer for The Spectator, an SU Club/Pub Director, and a member of Girls Who Code. I'm French and consider myself trilingual! In my free time, I like to hike and explore new places. I'm so excited to be one of the Big Sib Chairs and I can't wait to meet all of you :)
Hey, I'm Olivia! I'm a writer for the Spectator, a varsity volleyball player, an ARISTA Events Leader, a Chorus member, and a volunteer with multiple organizations outside of school! I'm fluent in Polish and visit Poland often. During my free time, I like to take photos, read, draw and hang out with friends. I'm super excited to be one of the new Big Sib Chairs!
Hello, I am Benjamin! I am an Ultimate Frisbee player, a Hip Hop dancer, and a personal tutor of a middle schooler. I am able to speak fluent Mandarin and Fujianese, but am unfortunately not able to read or write Chinese. When I have free time, I like to visit restaurants with interesting foods, binge watch television shows, and search for new songs to jam to. I am ecstatic to be the one of the Big Sib Chairs of the next generation!
Hey I’m Jean, and i’m so excited to be one of the big sib chairs! I’ve done tae kwon do for 7 years, been part of the varsity fencing team since freshman year, but mostly, I’m a musician and a writer. Most of my free time is spent writing my own songs, or learning and performing songs that i love. I’m fluent in korean, which helps when i want to write music in another language. If i’m not sitting in my room with my guitar, I’ll be out with my friends looking for something good to eat. I haven’t released any music to the public yet but buy my mixtape fam
Hey, I’m Liam! I’m so thrilled to be part of the Big Sib program, and so excited to work with all the upperclassmen and underclassmen to make 2016-2017 the best year ever for Stuyvesant! In addition to being a Big Sib Chair, I am an editor for the Spectator’s Arts and Entertainment Department, a member of the Speech and Debate Team, and a frequent actor in the Stuyvesant Theater Community. I love to sing and socialize, but I also love just sitting in bed, reading a good book and drinking some hot tea. I can’t wait to be able to meet everyone and make this year amazing!
Stay tuned for their new ideas and make sure to catch them at Open House!
